KUIP goes to Tokyo from 2018

Inamori Foundation and Kyoto University agreed to a new memorandum and held a press conference on July 1, 2017 at Kyoto University guest room, prior to opening the 4th symposium of KUIP (Kyoto University – Inamori Foundation Joint Kyoto Prize Symposium) which had started in 2014.

At the signing ceremony, President of Kyoto University, Juichi Yamagiwa and President of Inamori Foundation, Kazuo Inamori participated and confirmed the mutual agreement of memorandum to hold the event at Tokyo with inviting the former Kyoto Prize laureates under the themes highly interested by the society.

At the press conference, President Yamagiwa mentioned “holding events at Tokyo aims at boosting popularity.” President Inamori enthusiastically stated “Kyoto Prize entitled annual events take place for the first time; I expect it nurtured to the successful events that wider range of the citizen show a high interest.”

KUIP is a symposium inviting the representative researchers and artists at Kyoto Prize’s designated 12 fields. After an event of KUIP, quite a few invited speakers won in fact the world major international awards (2 persons turned the Kyoto Prize laureates). In this perspective, Kyoto University planners’ insight caught public attention.
