Elucidation of Translational Mechanisms Determining Pathogenic Diversity in RNA Virus Infections
Keyword
Summary
Among viruses, those with similar genetic structures that infect the same organs can nevertheless result in markedly different disease outcomes, with infections that resolve acutely or persist chronically. However, the molecular basis underlying these differences remains poorly understood. This study aims to elucidate new principles governing the establishment and persistence of viral infection by systematically analyzing the interactions between viral genomes and molecular responses in host cells. The knowledge gained from this project is expected to deepen our understanding of viral infections and provide foundational insights that may contribute to the development of novel antiviral therapies.

Message

I am deeply honored to have been selected for the Inamori Research Grant, which has supported the endeavors of many outstanding researchers. Through further advancing this research, I aim to approach the true nature of viruses—entities considered “non-living” in biology, yet profoundly involved in the fundamental systems of life.
