Creation and Application of Novel Isolated π-Electron Systems
Keyword
Summary
π-Conjugated frameworks are molecular architectures found in many functional materials, including electronic materials and pharmaceuticals. In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the creation of novel functions through the precise control of intermolecular interactions among π-systems. While extensive efforts have been devoted to achieving superior electronic conduction and spin transport by densely packing π-frameworks in close proximity, there is also a growing interest in the development of “isolated π-electron systems” that do not engage in intermolecular interactions._x000D_

In this study, we aim to construct rigid, isolated π-electron systems that are peripherally modified with sp³-carbon frameworks, and to explore their functions. Through this approach, we seek to realize innovative electronic devices and spin-based materials.

My research focuses on developing methodologies for constructing molecules and materials that are difficult to synthesize using conventional approaches. I have obtained a wide variety of molecules with intriguing and unique properties. Although my laboratory was only recently established, I am enjoying conducting research together with a group of enthusiastic and energetic students. I will continue to strive forward in my work.
