Summary
This proposed research will be conducted with a community leader living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh, as a subject. The project’s objectives are threefold: 1) discovering the subjective perception of the leader and how it has changed with regard to changes in the amount of existing forest resources (questionnaire); 2) collecting and compiling data on changes in the quantities of forest resources as measured objectively using satellite images, analyzing any differences between subjective perception and reality, and determining which of those influences the community’s forest preservation policies; and 3) conducting a lab-in-the-field experiment with the leader to gather information on preference and analyze how 1) - 3) relate to each other.
