A Study on Fabrication of Nanoporous Structure of Biodegradable Metal for Energy Storage
Keyword
Summary
We adapt selective etching of alloys to develop nano-porous structures, and the biodegradable nano-porous structures fabricated in this manner will enable to open emerging field of sustainable electronics.

Message

Fabrication of alloys and control of nano structures are challenging, but we want to fabricate the nano-porous structures which we want.

Outline of Research Achievments

We have developed nanoporous structures via selective etching of alloys using water. We prepared an alloy of magnesium (Mg) and copper (Cu) and soaked it in water or saline. The difference in the standard electrode potentials results in etching Mg to yield Cu nanoporous structures. This result offers opportunities to develop biodegradable nanoporous structures for biodegradable electronics.
