Elucidation of Structure-Property Relationships in Oxide Glasses Using Topological Data Analysis
Keyword
Summary
Understanding the properties of substances with disordered structures, such as amorphous materials, based on the behavior of atoms and molecules at the nanoscale is still a challenging problem in modern materials science. This study aims to overcome this problem by combining machine learning and topological data analysis with physical property simulations. In particular, we focus on glass, which is of industrial importance, and investigate how the distribution of ring-shape characteristics hidden in the structure relates to physical property values using persistent homology, revealing the correlation between nanostructures and macroscopic properties.

Message

I was greatly encouraged by the message from the review committee. I will diligently work on interdisciplinary research between materials science and applied mathematics.
