Development of multi-scale scanning probe microscopy for the discovery of new functional materials
Keyword
Summary
Scanning probe microscopy (SPM) is a technique that allows you to observe atoms and molecules that compose material surfaces. It has revealed structures and properties of various material surfaces, contributing to the improvement of electronic device performance and efficiency of chemical reactions. It is, however, still challenging to observe new types of materials expected to be useful for saving energy and environment for the future as most of these materials possess complex structures. In this project, we develop an SPM instrument based on a new concept, aiming at establishing the way to characterize noble nano-scale materials.

Message from recipient

To create useful materials, characterization techniques are mandatory. I will reveal real space images of materials that have not been possible to observe.
