Research topics
Development of new biomass gasification process using radiofrequency electromagnetic field
Radiofrequency (RF) irradiation will be applied to lignocellulose biomass to form a strong electric field and promote their decomposition to syngas via a metal-oxide cluster catalyst at benign temperature and pressure. A metal-oxide cluster catalyst with enhanced RF absorption and a new RF reactor capable of applying a strong electric field to the catalyst are combined to produce a strong electromagnetic loss on the catalyst. The applied RF field promotes the oxidative decomposition of lignocellulose and the formation of syngas.

I am very honored to be selected for the 2020 Inamori Research Grant. In this research, I would like to develop a new catalytic reaction using an RF field and realize it as an effective biomass utilization technology.
