Development of π-conjugated molecule with 3D periodic structures toward Mackay crystals
Keyword
Summary
Mackay crystals are an unknown three-dimensional nanocarbon material, following fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and graphene. Due to their three-dimensional structure, they are expected to exhibit unique properties and have attracted significant attention. However, not only have Mackay crystals themselves not yet been synthesized, but even three-dimensional π-conjugated molecules with periodic structures, which serve as their fundamental building blocks, have yet to be realized. In this study, we aim to develop synthetic protocols for three-dimensional π-conjugated molecules with periodic structures, elucidate their structures and properties, and ultimately realize three-dimensional nanocarbon materials.

Comment

I would like to take on the challenge of creating new molecules that no one has ever synthesized before.
