Electrochemical Trimerization of Indole
Keyword
Summary
Our research interest is the development of electrochemical organic reactions. In this research, we will achieve the trimerization reaction of indoles to construct triazatruxene skeletons, which have attracted great interest due to their various properties.

Comment

Thank you very much for accepting my research. We will develop new organic reactions by "Electrochemical Organic Synthesis", which uses electricity as a driving force.

Outline of Research Achievments

We investigated the anodic cyclotrimerization of indole. Bromide was used as a mediator to oxidize the indole moiety. First, a divided cell, which possesses a glass filter to divide the anodic and cathodic chambers, resulted dimerization to afford a dimer of indole. On the other hand, the use of undivided cell gave trimer of indole, and triazatruxene derivative was obtained.
