Summary
Cell division is an extremely dynamic biological phenomenon in which a single cell divides into two or more daughter cells. By utilizing drugs that can precisely photo-manipulate this dynamic process, we will establish a methodology to drastically modify the properties of cells.

Thank you very much for selecting me for the Inamori Research Grant.
I will make full use of this grant to pioneer a new technology to manipulate cell fate!

Outline of Research Achievments

In cell division, various proteins work concertedly to generate two identical daughter cells with high precision and accuracy. However, the malfunction of these proteins induces asymmetric cell division to alter dramatically cell fate. In this study, optochemical tools to control the activities of these proteins were successfully developed.
