A Study on Representation of Mnchuria in Repatriate Literature:Focus on GOMIKAWA Junpei
Keyword
Summary
In this study, I will attempt to re-examine Junpei Gomikawa (1916-1995), a writer famous for his best-selling book, "Ningen no joken (The Human Condition)." Gomikawa was born and raised in Manchuria, and obliged to repatriate to Japan. Although he has been marginalized in the history of literature to this day, we will read his literature and re-examine the image of Manchuria and repatriation in postwar Japan.

Comment

I am very happy to have been selected for the Inamori Foundation Research Grant.
Gomikawa is a writer with little accumulated research, but I intend to open up a new research field on him.
