Development of a micro-environment monitoring system for plants
Keyword
Summary
This project is aiming to develop a novel device to measure “micro environment” which is the near-by environment where plants are actually exposed in the field. The device currently targets only the use for rice in the field, which will make the device simple and low cost despite its limited versatility. Multiple devices in the field can be connected each other and a monitoring server via an in-field wireless mesh network. The product of this project will provide a highly useful tool for scientists trying to observe gene-by-environment interactions.

Message

Breeding science is now shifting its focus onto the "true" phenomenon which happens in the field as an outcome of complex interactions between a plant and environmental ques. The device which will be released as the product of this project can provide the way to monitor plant-environment interactions in filed and on site. This research aid is giving me a chance to make a first step to embody my vision. I appreciate it.
