Research topics
Structural analysis and engineering of the biosynthesis system for “lasso” peptides
Keyword
Summary
Some bacteria are known to produce lasso peptides with a characteristic knot structure. It is reported that bacteria use lasso peptides to attack other bacteria, and thus application of this phenomenon to the development of pharmaceutical products is anticipated. This proposed research is intended to reveal how lasso peptides’ knot structure is formed by way of X-ray crystal structural analysis of the lasso peptide synthesis enzymes.
