Identification of novel intracellular degradation mechanisms for cellular and tissue homeostasis and remodeling in vivo
Keyword
Summary
For an organism to develop normally and maintain its function over a long period of time, it is essential to have a system that selectively degrades intracellular proteins and organelles. Recently, I have succeeded for the first time in identifying a new organelle degradation mechanism, which is different from the previously known autophagy, by analyzing the molecular mechanism of global organelle degradation that occurs during lens development. This research aims to discover unknown intracellular degradation mechanisms through detailed analysis of various intracellular degradation phenomena occurring in vivo, and to contribute to the creation of new scientific knowledge and seeds for the prevention and treatment of various related diseases.

Message

During clinical training, I was aware of the difficulty of treating various diseases, which led me to basic medical science. In this research project, I aim to create a new research field based on "In vivo cell biology," and promote research using the latest bioimaging, genome editing, proteomics, and other technologies.
