The mechanism of functional remapping of cortical function by synaptic plasticity
Neural circuits in the brain have a property of adaptation in response to environmental change. In the case of brain injury, the functional map of the brain is reorganized by changing neural circuit of unaffected brain regions to compensate loss of function. It is not clear what kind of changes were induced in neurons that had previously assumed different function for exerting new output.
The aim of this study is clarifying the mechanism of reorganization in matured functional brain map by using light-dependent molecular inactivation method,

I am very honored to receive the prestigious Inamori Research Grant. I will devote myself to contribute my research to the development of this field.
