Involvement of autonomic and central nerves system in intestinal GLP-1 induced increasing insulin sensitivity
Keyword
Summary
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is known as a intestine hormone that promotes insulin secretion, and agonists of GLP-1 receptors are widely used as antidiabetic drugs. On the other hand, endogenous intestinal GLP-1 is unstable in vivo, and its action and mechanism of action are not fully understood. In this study, we will analyze the new action of intestinal GLP-1 in increasing insulin sensitivity and its mechanism of action (focusing on the autonomic nervous system and central nervous system) using the rare sugar alulose (a non-metabolizable, zero-calorie monosaccharide), which strongly promotes GLP-1 secretion.

My research interests are in brain and systemic functions from a viewpoint of visceral sensory nerves.
