Molecular dissection and suppression of human non-abstractive oligo-spermia

Summary
Spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) system consists of SSCs, their niche, and hypothalamic-pituitary (HP) axis that regulate testicular function. Therefore, defect in SSC/niche/HP axis results in spermatogenic failure. Recent epidemiological studies revealed that majority of azoospermia patients were diagnosed as non-obstructive unexplained infertility that are not able to be rescued by artificial insemination. Lack of mutant mouse model hamper the understanding of non-obstructive oligo-/azo-ospermia (NOA) in men.
Our team aims to unveil the mechanism of NOA pathogenesis by the creation and analysis of NOA model animal.

Message from recipient

Research grant from Inamori foundation helped us very well to obtain important results that forms the basis of our research thesis.
The most distinctive feature of this grant is that one can receive the comment from the referee who evaluate the proposal. Comments from the distinguished researcher encouraged me so much to enthuse over the project.
