Ethical and integrity aspects of academic journal: Analysis using a large-scale database
Keyword
Summary
In this research project, I will analyze the problems of academic journals and academic article databases, which are widely used as the basis for academic research results. It also aims to understand the trends.

Comment

We will create an opportunity to think concretely about the ethics and integrity of academic publications (journals).

Outline of Research Achievments

To concretize the challenges regarding the ethics and fairness of academic journals, attention was directed to “Predatory Reports” (by Cabells), where the characteristics of predatory journals (16,829 journals) were organized and analyzed. Issues such as digital preservation, archiving, and unclear peer review policies were frequently observed. Based on this, educational materials were created. Additionally, a questionnaire survey targeting the research community was conducted. Furthermore, the problem of expressing a list of predatory academic journals as a “blacklist” was highlighted, considering the historical background of the term.
