Analysis of phenotypic and gene expression change upon transformation of light quality in plants
Keyword
Summary
Many land plants appear green because chlorophyll, a pigment needed for photosynthesis, absorbs mainly blue and red light and reflects the remaining green light. Influence on the traits has been observed in liverworts introduced with a gene coding for a fluorescent protein that converts green to red light, but the mechanism is unknown. In this study, gene expression change will be analysed by next-generation sequencing using these liverworts to ultimately aim to establish a technology that can enhance growth rate and biomass using fluorescent proteins.
