Design of unique triplex structure formed by acyclic nucleic acid and RNA for control of nucleic acid function
Artificial nucleic acids, which have chemical structures different from those of natural nucleic acids, are expected to be applied to nucleic acid medicine and biotechnology. We have succeeded in determining the crystal structures of acyclic artificial nucleic acids, L-aTNA and SNA, and RNA, and obtained unexpected results that acyclic artificial nucleic acids and RNA form a parallel triple chain structure of C:G*G (Watson-Crick type base pairing, *Hugsten type base pairing) in an unconventional manner. In this study, we aim to develop a new method for RNA function regulation by unique triplexes of acyclic artificial nucleic acids.

I am very happy to receive a research grant for this research topic. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to develop a new approach to RNA regulation!
