Fascia remotely controls epidermal stem cells

Summary
The skin is composed of three primary layers: the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Many scientists have focused on the epidermis and dermis, however, the deeper layers of the skin remain unknown. The hair follicle is a highly distinctive organ that undergoes steady-state elongation and retraction. The niche of hair follicle stem cell has been studied for a long time. However, the possibility that hair follicle stem cells are remotely controlled remains to be elucidated. The present study aims to elucidate a novel hair follicle stem cell regulatory mechanism by focusing on cell-cell communication between hair follicle stem cells and the deeper layers of the skin.

Comment

This research will reveal the homeostasis of unknown tissue, the deeper layers of the skin. The findings of the study will not only contribute to the progress of knowledge in the field of tissue homeostasis, but also to the elucidation of novel pathological mechanisms.
